bid scheduler

I was thinking of getting this free sneaky little tool to use on Ebay. But when I went to register I noticed that the padlock was not showing and they wanted information on my ebay password etc. I thought I would ask here before I commit myself. Is there anybody on here that uses this site.

Re: bid scheduler

Don't fill any thing in that asks for your id or password, ebay would not do this as they already have your password, a bit suspect if you ask me,

Re: bid scheduler

There is a service that you can get to place a final bid just with a second to go so that no one out bids you at the winning post. ebay do not run this service and as Carole says will never ask for your details like these scammers do on unsolicited emails.

However I do believe you do need to give your password to these agencies that bid for you to a maximum on your behalf, pm moley: HERE or bibjo: HERE

Re: bid scheduler

No Padlock, be very suspect.

I hate to promote IE7, but it has a very good phishing feature. if the browser things its supect it will tell you, if the site has been reported as suspect it will tell you, if you think it is suspect, they run a scan and add it to the phissing site data, and if its clean they tell you.

IE7 will turn the address bar red with every dodgy site, but again No Padlock this means it not HTTPS:// (S means secure, without it your details are open to phishing)

Quote:
Phishing

(fish´ing) (n.) The act of sending an e-mail to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft. The e-mail directs the user to visit a Web site where they are asked to update personal information, such as passwords and credit card, social security, and bank account numbers, that the legitimate organization already has. The Web site, however, is bogus and set up only to steal the user’s information. For example, 2003 saw the proliferation of a phishing scam in which users received e-mails supposedly from eBay claiming that the user’s account was about to be suspended unless he clicked on the provided link and updated the credit card information that the genuine eBay already had. Because it is relatively simple to make a Web site look like a legitimate organizations site by mimicking the HTML code, the scam counted on people being tricked into thinking they were actually being contacted by eBay and were subsequently going to eBay’s site to update their account information. By spamming large groups of people, the “phisher” counted on the e-mail being read by a percentage of people who actually had listed credit card numbers with eBay legitimately.
Phishing, also referred to as brand spoofing or carding, is a variation on “fishing,” the idea being that bait is thrown out with the hopes that while most will ignore the bait, some will be tempted into biting.

Re: bid scheduler

I use a site called Esnipe .You do have to pay .Its 25cents for winning bids under $25 . 1% between $25 and $1000 , and $10 over $1000 .
Obviously you need to give them your Ebay details ,because otherwise how could it place a bid in your name?
Never had a problem using them .It has I am sure, meant me winning auctions that I would otherwise of lost.

Does this include auctions that you never should have been bidding on in the first place? ;)
