2, 1/2" mystery floppy drive?

A 2,1/2" floppy drive has suddenly appeared on my laptop, not that it's got one LOLOL.
It found new hardware at start-up, and it's now showing in *My Computer*.
Me thinks someone is playing with my settings.

Anyone else had access to it? has a usb floppy drive been plugged in at all, can't think why as they are hardly used anymore. have a look in device manager and scan for hardware changes. You can delete the entry for the floppy before you do the scan. I am assuming it's XP as the operating system.

It has disappeared on re-start this morning, very strange.
USB HD has been used recently though....

Floppy's (NOT MINE !!!) are 3 1/2 in, Laptop drives are 2 1\2 in so i would think a USB hard drive was connected at sometime.

Xp will drop the device when it can't find it any more

Laptops are usually a 2.5" Hard drive.

Try this: Click on the start button and then the run command. Type 'Diskpart' then 'rescan' <cr>
