Re: Norton Ghost.

Hi HH, not a bad bit of software. Good for going back to a known state after having a problem on the pc. Fairly easy to use. The last time i used it was a couple of years ago.
You could install it, make an image and rebuild it onto another hard drive so if the original drive goes down, just swap it out for the other and bob's yer uncle.

Only thing is, it will not have any info that you have put on since making the image.

If it's a data recovery solution you are after, a way that i use is: have 2 hard drives for just data with a copy of your info on each drive and 1 drive with the OS on that. Not too bothered if the drive with the operating system crashes, just reformat and make a fresh operating system.

How's yer jetlag?

Re: Norton Ghost.

Thanks, ghosted the complete system, I'm assuming thats everything on my HD, seems simple enough, need to read the instructions more.
Just do periodic updates and bobs yer auntie.

Jet-lag? Was worse going, gimme an excuse for an extra day off though.

Re: Norton Ghost.

Used it a couple of times.

I have 2 hard drives. 1 (C Drive) which I keep my OS and programmes on. The other (D Drive) which I keep my files, pics, films and music on.

Evey month or so I make an image of the C drive and store it on the D drive. If any thing fecks up I just reinstall off of the D drive. You use the Ghost CD as a boot disc.

Great tool.

Re: Norton Ghost.

Word of advise for anyone thinking of using Ghost.
It stopped working, saying there was an disk error, and the resolution was to run chkdsk 4 times.

De-fragged, chkdsk 4 times in both modes, no workie.

The way round it is that when defining a new back-up, in advanced click the tab that say to *ignore bad sectors* or something like that.

Bugger all wrong with my HDrive, Ghost seems finicky is all.

All workie now.;)
