DIGITAL TV (Freeview) PCI CARDS

OK. so who knows anything about these...?

Bought one today, shoved it in & it doesn't do what it says on the tin....!!

Found only 4 terrestrial channels (not the usual five), no digital channels and the sound doesn't work.......it's going back tomorrow.

In terms of 'Freeview' .....I had a box a while ago running from the same aerial that worked fine on the tele, so I know we can recieve freeview.

Absence of sound seems like a fault on the card, but do I need to upgrade to a more modern digitally compatible aerial on me chimney to get the additional channels...?

Re: DIGITAL TV (Freeview) PCI CARDS

As far as i am aware there are no (Freeview) cards. I went through this when i wanted another tv card.

In the end i chose the Hauppage TV card. It recieves all the channels analouge and digital. Picture quality is perfect. You can run a small 'tv' screen on top of all other windows letting you watch at all times.

If you pay to watch a film you can record it at we straight to the PC, unlike on a dvd recorder that tells you it is illegal.

Software easy to install.

Only thing i would say is run all the arial cable using heavey screened cable like what is used in sky and cable tv installations. No big deal really just better screening on cable

Re: DIGITAL TV (Freeview) PCI CARDS

Installed a WinFast DTV 2000 digital PCI card and finally got it working...

I now have all the freeview channels direct to my PC...

Not a straight forward installation, as nowhere in the destructions does it tell you an audio connection has to be established from the motherboard to the PCI card, and the connector cable that comes with the card (once I'd sussed out what it was) didn't have suitable connections for my motherboard, so I had to get a new one.

All said and done, it's in, it's working and it's pretty good...........
