Blackberry.....

......I'm told by the IT department that I need a Blackberry, cost is not an issue as work is paying. I know less than feck all about Blackberries, so can someone who knows something about them tell me which is the best one to get. Most of my usage is going to be for emails. Thanks.

In somewhat appropriate fashion I am answering this on my BlackBerry whilst watching the rugby!

We have lots of these at work and the latest fave model is the new pearl. Mainly because it's about the only model that you can use easily as both a phone and a mail device.

The 'traditionalists' all go for the full keyboard version.

I have a 'halfway' between the two model which works fine for me. Called the 7130 I think.

...and here I am sat in my hospital bed responding to this on my Blackberry Pearl. The Pearl, as Moley states, is the newer version. It is very good, the phone is good as well.

We have our blackberrys setup with a blackberry server at work which in turn is synchronised with the exchange server. This allows you to use all the features of Outlook on the move.

If you have them gprs enabled they can then be used as a web browser on the move, again a useful facility to have.

..........thanks guys; I didn’t know you access the Internet with a Blackberry. For reasons that escape me, I though it was email only. Anyway, I’ll be ordering it on Monday, so I’ll ask for a Blackberry Pearl – does the name have anything to do with Pirates of the Caribbean?
