Re: Downloading from Sky+

You talking about a DVD recorder that sits under the TV? or through the PC?
If the first it should be pretty straightforward ,you just play the recording and hit record on the DVD recorder. If its the 2nd I have no idea

Re: Downloading from Sky+

I doubt you can record films from the film channel ( i cant from NTL). Ordinary programs there should ne no probs.

The best work around is to have a TV card in the PC and you can record anything...............have done it

Re: Downloading from Sky+

I don't know specifically about Sky+ but I've got a Topfield PVR that records to it's hard disk. I copy files to my PC (wirelessly but you can use USB as well) that are in a .REC format. The have to be demuxed (whatever that is) and then burned onto DVD. There are a number of bits of free software that can do it but it's a real ball ache. If you read this thread on the anorack site it will give you some options.

If on the other hand the Sky+ uses another format than .REC then I've just wasted a minute of your life

Re: Downloading from Sky+

The problem with Sky+ is that it has no USB/IP type of output so unless you have a DVD recorder plugged straight into the back of it, your only choice is the TV card in a PC and record off the VHF/UHF ariel channel (26 i think) this does work well, but not as well as direct recording. I want to record off it too without buying another DVD recorder, if I find a way, I'll re post

For some stupid reason, Sky+ does have a USB socket on the front, just no software working it ....

I guess they dont want us infringing any copright laws by recording permanent copies of some programs/films ..... as if we would ......
