More info needed on wireless please, my signal does not seem to be very strong in the house from pc in spare box room/office (3 bedroom semi) to my laptop downstairs in any of the rooms? Is there a way I can check what I'm kicking out from the pc signal? Sometimes I'm getting 100% most of the time it's Low or even searching. |

Had similar probs in the past Baza, as has tinkerbell, Ive sorted mine by having the router mounted on top of my main pc, Kaths is an internal one, with the ariel behind and is really poor. i now get a constant good signal, except if the weather is heavy in a thundery way, that seems to mess it up a bit sometimes. I dont know if it is the plan of the house, but when i put my wireless modem on Kaths system, it just would not play, and can onyl assume its a positional thing of the ariel, and the layout of the house. Mine is a cable and wirwless system, the BT setup was as usefull as BT are in general, bleedin overpriced and useless g |

in older well-built houses Baza layout is an issue My local expert who supplied and installed router did warn us that as we live in four-bed 1930s semi with thick walls it can affect reception. But we have had no issues with router two floors above where the Mac is usually played with, wirelessly. Your MAc or PC should have a signal-strengh icon in tool bar? |

I have the same problem, old house, thick walls. The standard wireless protocol is 802.11g. Belkin do a 802.11g+ MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) which gives you much better range and speed - but you need both wireless router and laptop card to be G+. |

The output of wireless equipment is restricted in the UK. If you've got one of the BT Hubs which are in fact 2Wire units made in the USA then you can give them the equivalent of a stage 1 tune by upgrading the firmware. You can then crank up the power level which much like a Harley stage 1 will likely upset your neighbours by interfering with their wireless signal. ![]() Baza. I know you havn't got a BT Hub so you could either try the techy forums for your equipment and see if you can find a similar firmware fix (will invalidate the warranty) or alternatively get a wireless access point (cheap enough on Ebay), configure it as a wireless bridge and it will help maintain signal strength around the house. Note of caution to anyone with the BT Hub. I've got 2 of them on a shelf here acting as expensive paper weights following firmware upgrade failures. It sometimes goes t1ts up

Thanks for all the help and advice. All sorted now working a treat all around the house and even in the garage when I tested it this morning. I stupidly had one number out of sequence in the WPA-PSK Security Encryption. |

glad to see you are using WPA encryption as opposed to WAP
