Problem with Windows updates and ZoneAlarm

Hi, you may be aware of an issue with a recent Windows update (yesterday) and problems about getting back on the Internet.
It seems that the Update breaks ZoneAlarm. Something to do with a fix for a DNS weakness.
ZoneAlarm suggest dropping the security setting. I uninstalled it and put on Comodo Free Firewall available here:- Free Firewall Protection Software Best Firewall Computer Security Free Personal Firewall

That works just fine.
I had on of my friends phoning me last night after being on the helpline to AOL to get this fixed. AOL were apparently not much help but swapped the firewall and ok again.
I know this will not help anyone unable to connect but spread the word....
safe surfing

Re: Problem with Windows updates and ZoneAlarm

Check Point have released a new version of ZoneAlarm, version 7.0.438.000

Get it here:
ZoneAlarm SmartDefense Research Center

On the page referred to above are instructions for restoring access to enable download of update.

Pass this on to your friends with ZoneAlarm problems.

It is my understanding the problem was caused by Microsoft fixing vulnerabilities within its own software.
Nothing new there then

That's exactly what happened to me yesterday and funnily enough I have done the same as you gone with COMODO. But I uninstalled their bloody toolbar....

Re: Problem with Windows updates and ZoneAlarm

I had a guy from Pipex being really helpful and he just advised to reduce the risk settings in Zone Alarm from high to medium and that was all. After that my connection was back to normal. Was going to leave Pipex for another ISP but not totally convinced as this guy was quite helpful just v american or something! Yes M'am all the time

Want to go to BE (there). Anyone had any good experience with them? https://www.bethere.co.uk/
