Hi, you should have the installation CD and instruction manual. If not, try here: HP Deskjet F4180 All-in-One Printer: Manuals* That's a link for the manual, you may want the users guide and the basics guide. I am sure all the info you require will be in those. As fas as resolution goes, you will probably be able to set it to whatever you require up to what the limits of the device are.

I have the HP C5280 and have to say it is really good. I bought it primarily for printing direct to CD/DVD's but the printer in itself is very good. Printer normally default to 1440dpi for printing,if you want to print a full colour picture you may have to find a box that will allow the 2400dpi. I think HP are better than Epsom, the reason for that is Epsom have their print heads fixed in the printer, when you fit a new head you have the same head all the time. If the head block up, and they do if they are left for a time, no amount of cleaning will clear it. I have had four Epsom's and they all went the same way. HP on the other hand have their print heads in the cartridge, so when you fit a new cartridge a new head is fitted and there is no real difference in price.

High DPI isn't what people think, it will take an age to print for no better quality. you should get a great print at 300 DPI only commercial printers need high end DPI I print my best stuff at 600 or for quick scans for the web I only do 100 DPI |
