Thanks Hawkeye,

Just tested my Sky Broadband, it was running at an average 1300kbps, now it's 4800kbps. I contacted sky they went through various tests then they changed some noise filter setting and bingo 4800kbps. Result

I also have my line rental with Sky.

No you cant buy one but it they send a new one if they decide yours is FUBAR. You will have to do the speed test over the phone with the guy but just keep telling him the speed is low.
Modem was about ten years old or more i think.
try ringing on a Saturday morning you may get through to Bristol like i did, also make sire your modem is connected direct to you PC not through a router, tghey can see this by the IP address.

I got 49000kb/s one Saturday morning so it is dependant as to the traffice at the time.
