Hi
i hope someone can help, in my infinite wisdom i downloaded windows 7 beta
just too have a look,as you do.I have the unlock key ,i have burnt it to dvd as instructed as downloaded as a .iso file ,but i cant get it to run .
Do i have to change the boot sequence or something else,i was going to put it on another partition and see what its like
Any help would be great as i dont have a 10year old who could do it for me

TIA Jobby

Ps before i get flamed and burned ,yes i know its proberly going to be crap and yes it will crash my system, shag my wife, steal my car, empty my bank account and generally be the mother of all antichrists wrapped in a furry coat but some of us just live on the edge

Re: .iso files

An ISO file means, you need to burn it as a bootable CD. But do yourself a favor and don't install it.

Re: .iso files

Do you have Nero or other burning software?
It will create the bootable CD automatically under burn image to disk from your .ISO file

Re: .iso files

I run iso's on a virtual drive eg Alcohol, however only on XP. I used Virtual clone drive on Vista. Check this page Mount an ISO image in Windows Vista :: the How-To Geek
Only if you're certain you know what you're up to and have plenty of security in place

Re: .iso files

Couple of ways you can do it for free...that I know of.

Easiest way is to download DVD Decrypter or BurnImg , either will let you burn the iso as an image direct to disc .

OR

download ISOBuster, drag the .iso into the program, extract the contents and either burn it to disc or you should be able to run it straight from the folder.

Re: .iso files

Don't bother with Windows 7 yet. It's a Beta version which means it'll be full of bugs.

I wouldn't even touch the full version when it comes out - the golden rule with Windows is wait for the first service pack to be released and then go for that version
