Can I turn off Outlook Express while I'm away?

I get through this website about 30 a day mostly spam I can and will turn my ISP email off.

I don't want two weeks of approx 500 emails to sort through.

I have looked through all the toolbar but cannot see how or if I can stop all incoming.

Anyone know?

The ISP will automatically forward any emails sent to you as soon as you switch your machine back on.
You have a few alternatives though.
You can select all and delete everything the minute you get back and switch Outlook on, once they are downloaded from the ISP.
You can set up an out-of-office reply even if your machine is off.
You can set up folders for those you want to receive and divert everything else to spam.

Re: Can I turn off Outlook Express while I'm away?

What Phil said...easiest way to get around this would be to set up additional folders in your inbox (eg, 'safe', 'friends', 'hdrcgb', etc), this way you can create a rule for every 'friendly' incoming mail to drop directly into each sub-folder. This is effectively working in the opposite way to what any kind of spam-filtering does in that all your non-spam (Ham) drops into a sub-folder and all the spam stays in the main inbox which you could then bulk delete.

You could also search on-line for any Outlook plug-ins for anti-spam, something like this maybe... SourceForge.net: SpamAssassin for Outlook

STG

P.S. That'll be a box of Quinteros please...

Depending on who your email account is with, they may have their own filtering system. I'm with BTYahoo and you can apply email filters via their website, also you can look and delete messages from there before it gets to your outlook

To test Bazas system (and patience LOL) why dont we all just send him 5 or 6 e-mails a day (or more) that'll teach him to go off galavantin in the credit crunch!

Re: Can I turn off Outlook Express while I'm away?

Sussed a way of doing it

Outlook Express:
Tools >> Accounts >> Internet Accounts >> Mail >> Properties

then take out the name by which you would like to refer to these servers and just type in a couple of letters and apply.

Now it does not work at all until I redo it correctly.

That's great no pm's no aol emails or riders club emails for 2 weeks

Bye.............
