Re: I T Help please...

I had that trouble once, can't remember how I fixed it. But I am sure it is something to do with configuring the keyboard to English, yours might be in Yank-speak.

Re: I T Help please...

Dont know if you have changed it Rob, or if you are just leaving it at Shift+2 but that is the US keyboard layout. You can go into Control Panel and change the Keyboard to UK and all will be back to normal.

PS Happy birthday to Mrs Spice

Or you can press Alt, and whilst holding it down type 64, then release the Alt button.

Is it one of the EEE asus notebooks? if so and your running windows you may find it goes dog slow (cos the ssd has trouble keeping up with all the useless bits that windows insist an operating system needs )
if that is the case there is a linux based system designed especially for those little notebooks called eeebuntu but be warned linux takes a bit of getting used to.

I think this may be a bit much for someone who does not know about keyboards.. also it will wipe his XP and if he doesn't like it he will not be able to recover easily as they don't have Optical drives (any use of external drives is going to too complicated too) and I ain't too sure his will have come with a recovery disc either..

You need to change to UK keyboard someone has already explained this

I have a netbook too the main thing is I recommend a bare minimum of 1GB RAM to run XP though I run 2GB
Go to crucial.com select to shop in english and it should will be able to pick by maker model etc..
Buy 2GB to be safe (it is really cheap)
It is easy to fit as there will probably only be one access panel on the bottom of the netbook
Make sure before you do anything to ground yourself (touch something electrical with a metal surface like a fire or a water pipe just push a metal object into the ground) to get rid of static (you don't need to wear one of those little bracelets as long as you have got rid of any static)..
