As and when (or should it be 'if') the new high speed adsl systems become available in the rural areas then there may be a small increase in data streaming speed but until then we have to do the best we can.

Of course once we all pay out additional £6 on line rental then there will be endless funds available to improve the infrastructure so that we will all be enjoying 100mbs - not!

Me too Bob; I'm at the end of a very frayed, very long, very wet piece of string.
We'll get fibre optics the same day we get mains gas; the day after the Apocalypse.
Got mains water 25 years ago; got mains sewage 15 years ago, phone about the same.
Download speeds vary from 800k to 2.0m depending on day/time of day/whether the sun goes behind a cloud.
Stop whingeing you townies!
Cheers,
Pete

Your right Sal, i have been with them for over fifteen years, dialup days. We get no choice really as out house is low to surrounding countryside and high trees at the rear where the Sky signal comes from.

I have to say when they made the 2 to 20mb transfer they said it would take an hour to go through, i tried it five minutes later and it was there.

Re: Broadband Speed??

Just been fobbed off with this crap from aol.

Below is this mornings reading and after numerous line tests they say my max capability with my BT line is 500 kb's.

I got a transfer rate when downloading a test programme of between 165-250kb's which he says is ok.

Also he said that my "Line speed/Downstream Rate" is 1664 kb's.

Unfortunately that's not crap from AOL, it's BT's (crap) assessment of your line speed. It's unlikely that changing broadband supplier would help as it is a BT issue
