Parsing Music

Trying to put a little quiz together and thought about using music excerpts. Problem is I dunno how to extract a small piece (few seconds) of a music track

For example, Baker Street. The first few seconds is a good start and relatively easy to identify the tune. Now how do I extract just the first few seconds and put it in a music file?

Grateful for any help offered.

TIA

Re: Parsing Music

Used to be very easy in the days of Reel-to-Reel tape decks and Cassette players, tape could be cut and joined easily with all sorts of bits and pieces of music. Sometimes improvements in technology make things more difficult. Haven't got a clue nowadays, best you find a local 11 year old, You may need a CRB check first tho'

Re: Parsing Music

If you have the songs on your hard drive it's easy.

go here
http://http://www.google.co.uk/searc...free+mp3+edito

free mp3 editors, select your song and edit out the bit you want then save it as sample1 and so on.

I use cool edit pro but that aint free.

Like all software you have to play with it to see how it works

I use Audacity on my PC, it's free, which is always a good thing you can import any song into it, choose which bit of the song you want then cut that bit out to use, if you need a heads up on how to use it pm me your e-mail & I'll put together some easy instructions to follow & send you them

Re: Parsing Music

I use a sound editor (Sound Forge) load the track up, and delete sections you don't want then SAVE AS new name, dead simple. I think that nero even comes with a basic sound editor. Try it.

Cheers
