Just to get it started

Just to get it started I am just building up an FXR for the shop.It has USD forks 11/2 slab yolks ,190 rear wheel, braced swinging arm(doing it my self),Iam having a go at building my own stainless steel exhaust, usually have some one make the exhausts for me but thought i would try it my self this time.11/4 bars very wide of course, bought these had them dechromed altered the bends to suit me,drilled the bars to take internal wiring.Had to drill the bars from the top stright through to the risers then weld the top holes back up.Going to be powder coated black,The forks will be black with the yolks polished.Just got some awesom forward controls from Australia made out of billet a bit like Exile cycles, not much available for FXR now. Got the seat height down to just about my knee height.I have had to cut the back of the frame up as FXRs are off set this has been the most difficut part so far to get it straight to fit the one off mud gaurd to line up with the wheel.Cut the mud gaurd out of a blank, never again. On this project Iam trying to make most of the parts my self instead of just taking them of the shelve in the shop ,to easy not the same satisfactsion. Will let you know how it is going.

Re: Just to get it started

keep us informed ian, sounds good , too modern for me, id rather go back, springer front end, kicker box, wishbone frame , hand/clutch suicide shift so to speak, only thing is id need to change the tranny on the ol fxr, to get the kinda frame im lookin for,as u know the tranny on the fxrs is bolted straight to the rear of the block and kinda is a pain in the erse, some pics would be great m8, and mer strength to yer elbow
