Matt Hotch Vincent Bike

Anyone seen the Biker Build Off episode where Matt Hotch takes on Roger Goldammer for a Bonneville speed trial?

Hotch built a fairly outrageous Vincent engined bike - the engine alone was supposed to have cost circa $85K!

That front end let him down though and it returned an average speed of around 98mph.

Goldammer started off with a dirt bike frame and added a 250 2 stroke twin engine - official time was just short of 130mph.

I know a lot of people aren't at all sure about a lot of Goldammer's bikes but you have to admire his engineering & technical skill.

Re: Matt Hotch Vincent Bike

I thought it was a tough call really - there was a land speed record at 150mph set by a Vincent years ago and Hotch thought his bike would beat it.

Now, I don't know how "original" the old record was but I'm betting it didn't have an $85K motor in it!

I think Hotch was pretty surprised that Goldammer beat him with a 250 2 Stroke. . . . . .

Re: Matt Hotch Vincent Bike

Not seen this in the flesh,so to speak, but the Vincent could be passed off as a Goldammer bike!
A lot of similarity to his board/flat track bikes.

Moley
I reckon that record was set by a bloke called Rolly Free who laid flat on the seat and tank wearing just a pair of shorts.

I can't think that $85k would have made that much of a major difference to any vinnie engines in any case, I would rather have the $85k in my sky rocket, and an original engine

They were and still are a real piece of Brit engineering ...and it was a real shame that it was ever left to dissapear

They were better than any H-D, and a shame that we have had to ever revert to a second sucks situation .

Same as my old man used to ride a J.A.P. OK250 supreme, we have seen some fantastic bikes in our time, but where have they gone

Sounds like the man - they showed a pic of him on the show.

150mph, on a Vincent, wearing shorts

.

Russell Wright set land speed records on a Vincent both in side car and solo forms back in mid 50's just out of Christchurch NZ
