what is this called, and where can I buy one?

I think it is a 'heim joint'', is that right??

the one on the left I bought in a car parts shop in NZ the other month, apparently the hot rod guys use them I dunno what for.

the one on the right is the aftermarket H-D part, but the ''bushing'' in the middle does not rotate....

The rotating bushing gives a lot of flexibility when attaching for linkages. Something similar is used near the tranny in most Harleys....but this is for my foot clutch rod linkage.

The one on the left is a bit short, and allows for only a very thin bolt.

I am looking for one as long as the one on the right, with a rotating bushing that might take a quarter-inch or 5/16 bolt. At the bottom, there is internal thread, either 3/16 or M5 will work. see here

No luck today at rhe biggest fasteners places in the North East, car parts shop or a marine chandlery......does anyone have a stock of these? or know where I can find one? Thanks

Its called a Heim join all right. I used to get them from Kart race shops. There used on the steering systems on race Karts. (Track rod ends). You can get them in different materials, i.e. alluminium or steel, with different bearing materials.

Are they also called 'rose joints'...? I have seen them referred to as 'rod ends'. I'll have a look in me garage and PM you if I have one.
