| SVA or not?
My 'Custom' Harley is now nearly finished and I am wondering whether to get it SVA'd or use the V5 from my old '883 and then break the '883? Any thoughts?....... |

John, Depends on a couple of things 1. do you think it will pass? as in is everything legal and i do mean everything! Read up on the MSVA, also you will need to supply MSO's (manufactures statement of Origin) for all the major parts 2. Can you be bothered, its not the most straight forward of things to do and can be quite drawn out etc 3. do you care that if you have re-framed it and you use the original SVA its not quite legal If it was me i would use the original log book and sell the rest of the bike on ebay, you will probably come out on top money wise doing it that way as well! PS Show us some pics then! |

| Re: SVA or not?
Sorry, I wasn't that clear in my first post. The custom I am building is a Santee framed 1340 Evo. I also have a tatty old '883. So my plan is either to break the '883 and use the chassis number (Not exactly legal, I know) or SVA the custom. I have built many bikes over the years, but never had to register or SVA one! I guess I could put the custom to SVA standard (temporarily). I have all the paperwork for the custom... it is pretty much all new dealer supplied parts. My nearest SVA centre is 120 miles away. |

I have been told that the SVA is not as daunting as some say..... Therefore decided to do 'The right thing' and go for the SVA! |
