| 2009 Summer Rally - CANCELLED To all Rally-Goers - from the East Midlands Region 10 Members This is to let everyone know that the East Midlands Region 10 rally at Lumb Farm scheduled on the Year Planner for the 4th-6th September 2009 has been cancelled. After discussions that took place at the regional meeting held on 4th January at which the majority of the regular attendees were present, the members decided that under the circumstances, this decision is in the best interests of the region and the club generally, and the responsible thing to do. It only takes a look at the 2009 year planner to make clear the reasons behind this decision. For a Club the size of the HDRCGB with the limited numbers of rally-goers that it has, there are a ridiculously high number of Club events. Each year there seem to be more and more showing on the Calendar. Add to these the non-Club events, the foreign rallies and the parties that our rally-goers like to attend and the you end up with a rally-going population that is spread dangerously thin. People do not have unlimited cash and time and it is shortsighted to expect that all of the events will do well or even break even. In 2008 we saw drops in the number of attendees at most of the events and 2009 is going to be much worse with the current credit crunch situation that will effect everyone one way or another. We apologise to any rally-goers that were intending to come to Lumb Farm to party with us, but there will many other opportunities to do so throughout 2009 as we have quite a bit up our sleeves to compensate, because as everyone knows the East Mids love to party! PS - the next East Mids event is a meal out on the 28th February and we are also going for a meal after the Club’s AGM on 28th March. There is a “back to basics” camping night out (or two) in the pipeline which will involve a country pub, no band, no disco, just good food, decent ale and of course the essential good company. If you fancy joining in and need any details or information, then feel free to give me a call on 01332 230640 or 07711 874122.
