Advice on a Suitable Route?

Hi all, I need some advice on a decent route from North East London, up to Great Yarmouth. This Saturday, Ill be leading a mate of mine, whos not ridden for a couple of years, & wholl be on a borrowed Superglide, so Im looking for a relatively easy route. The A12 is the obvious choice, but Im told its basically a motorway in all but name, and I was looking for something a bit more scenic. Google Maps has given me "scenic" route which runs to the north of Chelmsford and Colchester, but there are 38 separate directions to follow, and I dont want to be stopping every 10 minutes to check where I am. Any ideas from anyone who knows the area?

Trouble is mate that you have the sea on one side and the M11 on the other so not many choices. Try writing road numbers instead of places. I assume that you are going A12 Chelmsford North A30 / A31 Braintree Sudbury A34 Bury St Edmunds A43 across to Yarmouth. The A12 does run duel up to Ipswich and is manic but goes on to mostly single track the other side. If you go A12 Lowestoft is a pig to get through normally even on a bike. Best of Luck Ev
