Re: Mot NOT this One

Hi All Just took the baby for her first MOT (A little over due ) should have been in December being a good lad I changed the slip ons back to standared changed the break pads checked all lights and horn. What could go wrong . FAILED WTF Sorry sir but your number plate is the wrong size and the letters/numbers must be on two lines . OK I hear you but do you really want me to go all the way home and change it, then bring it back. YES. VERY . So it would appear that the number plate now (For the last 18 months) affects the road worthyness of the bike! BULLSH!T! I,m still sane get me out of here!

Re: Mot

.................if you look at the front of my car you see an absence of number plate - I used to keep it in the boot in case a cop stopped me for a moan. For years I drove with no front plate and took it in for MOTs without a problem. Then one MOT station noticed it and said I had to have a plate to pass the test. So, in front of him, I took the plate out of its hidey-hole and tied it to the grill with some wire; the MOT guy passed it, so I took the plate back off and drove home. I do a similar think with my Harley. I take my original plate with me to the MOT station then secure it to my small plate with two large elastic bands. Soon as the MOTs over I take the plate off, stuff down my jacket and ride off.

Re: Mot

When I MoTd mine recently, I was told, before going in, to fit the standard plate to get a pass, which I did. Funny thing is the registration plate does not form a part of the safety tests carried out to ensure that our machines are roadworthy. And, if you ask what the max noise level is, in dBs, I doubt any one could tell you. Still, it isnt the end of the world to fit the standard plate for one day - so long as it keeps everyone happy and the authorities think theyve won one. Kev

Re: Mot

PM me if you want a place I can recommend in Southend on the pipes.....he wont pass small plates though, but is quite happy to lend tools to fit the "proper" one for the purpose of test.
