M11 shut today

I think this is the right place to post this.

I was on the M11 today in a jam for 3 hours near to Braintree. The Police shut the road off and I had to turn round and go back the way I had just come, then up the slip road the wrong way....that felt strange. It took me 3 hours to travel 2 miles.
I can't find out what had happened...anyone know.

Thanks Baza, I've since found out that it was the incident with the stolen car, the dead youth and the bloke doing a legger. I saw the air ambulance go overhead.

The M11 was shut southbound to M25 for most of yesterday.
We went out for a ride to the Ace & then Warr’s got to Junction 7 @ around 09:30ish as it was shut turned around and went back to the A10, got to the Ace and the traffic round there was crap also due to something on at Wembley Stadium, quite funny watching all these I assume football supporters coming in to buy beer only to be told not before 11.00 going out disgruntled and moaning and then walking past a row of police bikes, the look on their faces, there was a bikesafe day on!

Anyway on the way home @ 13:00 or so the M11 was still shut southbound and there was a lot of traffic plod wandering about with note books, cameras etc. near the Junction 7 entrance slip road, northbound was very slow too from the M25 due to lane closures including the J7 slip road, which then tails back and blocks lane 1 this is even worse on a Saturday when the North Weald Market is on as that traffic blocks the roundabout also, so it becomes steadily worse!

So generally all around poo and it was cold too!
