Fitting post 97 FLH seat to a 96 FLH Frame

Evening.

Wondering if anyone has ever done this.

I'm looking to fit a post 97 seat to my 96 EG as post 97 seats are far more plentiful second hand.

I know the basic differences, post 97 frame being wider across the seat rails, lowered seat rails and a different front mount.

None of the above presents a real problem but was just wondering if anyone had done it, did it work out ok and was there anything insurmountable that I don't know about?

Thanks.

Looked into it and got a post 97 seat when i got the RK a couple of years back, didnt look as straight forward as some seem to make it our to be and dont think it would have ever fitted nicely or like it was supposed to be there! i didnt bother hacking it up as it was a like new stock front and sold it on and bought a La Pera that fitted.

Like Neil I just went and got the Le Pera Silhouette 2up, there were few instances where I could find people in the US that had actually done the conversion and not being able to see what it look like finished I decided not to.

In the long run I'll be having a custom seat done on the Le Pera base, just as a present to my anus.

And like Jon at some point my solo La Pera will get some work done on it, it looks lovely fitted but its far from comfy after about over 100 miles, i stick the 2 up stock pillow seat on for longer journeys

Neil and Jon.

Thanks for the reply's.

I guess the main problem is the 3/4" drop in the seat rails.

Seems I'm off to Dragon Seats in Newport this winter for a re-work of my seat n back rest.

I know people who have used them and were very happy with the work, a mate did 40k on one of their seats and the thing still looked like new.

Thanks again.
