Re: replacing fork tins

It's the same for TC and Evo but you might like to post in the TC section....

You will need to lift the front end off the ground as to fit the new fork shrouds the fork legs will have to be removed from the bike.

Not difficult, raise front end off the ground, remove the wheel and mudguard, release fork yolk pinch bolts and fork top nuts. Slide fork legs out of yolks and then remove old and fit new fork shrouds.

You will need to read the manual ( you do have one don't you?) if you haven't done this before but it's fairly straight forward. The only wiring that you will need to worry about is the passing lamp switch if it's fitted. Apart from that there is no disturbance of the wiring unless you are also fitting a new triple tree top cover in which case you will need to release each wire from the deutsch connections.

Hope this helps.

Having owned my 1990 bike from new, I can attest that the stainless ones have a brushed finish and eventually go dowdy and dull. I painted mine the same colour as the rest of the bike, which is cheaper than chrome ones, but something had to change, to restore the appearance of the bike!

Then there are those for whom chrome beckons....

Re: replacing fork tins

If you use a bike lift don't forget it will get very very light on the front when you take off the wheel, fender and forks.............. so put a block under the rear wheel .
