| Spitting back
Can anyone please advise 96 evo fatboy Stage 1 K & N cv carb ... dynojetted staggered big shots bike runs great ... and better since the new pipes plugs are good throughout all ranges in the cold weather (with winter fuel additive) the carb occasionally spits snot over the push rod tubes & pipes ... dosent happpen often, but its a pain when it does is it the additive ... too much/too little, or just a pecuriality of the cv carb is there a way to resolve/prevent it ... or is it cos its just a harley ? I suppose a ladies stick on liner inside the air cleaner cover would help short term ....probably just answered all my questions

I can see your one of the hardy types riding in sub zero temeratures, below 20c .I dont have a cure for your carb but on my Sportster i changed the carb to an S&S and it cure the problem. It ran better in all weather conditions. A lot of people dont like the S&S saying it is a bit of a farm machinary device but i loved it. Guess that may explain me a little ![]() I have heard that tampons are good for soaking up oil as well. A mate of mine shoved them round the back of the push rods tubes to soak up the oil for a while. Lasted till he had time to fix the leak, well as much as you can stop a Triumph leaking.

Did changing to an S&S include fitting a new manifold? That may be what cured the spitting back. The inlet manifolds are renowned for leaking (I have suffered from it) which may cause spitting back. Removing the manifold and refitting carefully with new O rings may cure it. Make sure all the surfaces are pristine clean and apply a little light lubricant to help the O rings slide into their final resting place, when tightening things up. Hope that helps. |
