any one know where i can get a repair kit for my 89 fxr fuel tap? cheers,josh

I think you will find you can not get one, you can no longer and have not for a long time been able to get an OEM replacement tap either.

So your options are an aftermarket pattern one, often not that great or a quality aftermarket such as pingel.
The FXR has a different outlet angle to most other fitments, so can make life more awkward.

sorry meant jp cycles. anyway can anyone tell me the thread size for my 89 fxr?, checked fleabay and sizes range from 3/8 ,13/16 ,21mm ,22mm. my head is burst wouldnt think it would be this hard ti ge one. i have the factory manual and no mention of thread. any help? cheers, josh

At the risk of sounding like a broken record,I would try an established Indy dealer.Check in the suppliers section.

This is the sort of thing that gets ordered in and not used,like jackshafts.

Have you got the numbers for tap and kit?

time to buy a decent aftermarket tap that will pass enough gas to feed the motor properly

the standard tap can in some cases effectively become your main jet by restricting the flow of gas to the carb

If you buy from J&P you will need to setup an account. Scan you last credit card bill (just the top) and email it to them. They will ask you to do this once only.

A little tiresome in setting up but well worth it when done.
