Brake Calipers

Are there any (whispers) japanese or italian 4 or 6 pot calipers that bolt straight onto Dyna/Sportster forks?
From what I can find out they are 87.6mm between centres on the brake mounts - I know Brembo make some in 90mm centres.
Cheers
Steve

Re: Brake Calipers

You could consider Billet brakes, they come in 4 and 6 pot variety, they come in three main styles and dare i say it look very nice indeed.

as a bonus you would be supporting a British manufacturer,

will be looking at a set for my new addition as soon as i have saved up

Thanks - i'm not sure my skills are up to it on such a crucial bit! Are there any suppliers of adaptor plates or should I just find a good local custom shop?

Re: Brake Calipers

The difficult bits not fabricating an adapter plate that'll bolt the calipers to the forks, but aligning the calipers up to the center of the brake disc, - straight and true.

Like others have said perhaps the easy way out, especially allowing for fabrication costs, may be an bespoke caliper from Harrison or PM that'll bolt strait on.

Re: Brake Calipers

Buy a set of later fork bottoms and a four piston Harley caliper - all available on eBay for not much money.

Not as good as Harrison or Performance Machine etc but a lot cheaper and still better than the stock caliper. You may need to make spacers for the wheel spindle depending on the model but even that's not a major expense.

With a twin disc front end thats at least £500 , whereas I can pick up a set of 6 pots off a hayabusa for about £100-£150 . Actually for £500 maybe I should go the whole hog and fit a set of USD forks brakes wheel etc.......

Make that two four pot calipers then.

Whilst the later Harley Calipers are in the same league as Harrison etc they are light years ahead of the previous generation of Harley calipers. I converted the front brakes on my 97 Evo glide to the later type and certainly noticed the difference and that's a lot heavier bike than a Dyna.

Re: Brake Calipers

Hi,
I had a pair of slab yokes made for my softail.Fitted a pair of VZ800 Suzuki USD forks. Only one caliper but the fork bottoms and wheel can be engineered to fit 2 calipers for double the stopping power, but still stops well on one.
