| Fatboy Seat
Evening all, I haven't posted for a while but check in from time to time to view all of your wise words. Happy New Year to you all. I'm looking to replace the seat on my 93' Fatboy and wondered if anyone had any recomendations. At the moment I'm looking at the HD badlander seat (although is there anything else I should consider between the normal and leather option, apart from the obvious), and I also like the look of those Granucci seats which have been advertised in BSH recently. Has anyone actually bought one? Are they ok? Any pictures? I'm a bit nervous spending £200 on a seat I haven't seen in the "flesh". I want something thats faily minimal as I have a bobtail fender fitted and the back end is fairly "slim" looking. Any comments/tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much. Matt |

| Re: Fatboy Seat I've got a Badlander on my Softail and it's none too comfy, making it only really suitable for bar-hopping. I have just bought one of these Ultima seats from V-Twin Mania for £109.00, which was top value for a real leather seat. They are made in Mexico and have a nice finish, with a carpeted base. As it only arrived today, I haven't fitted it yet so can't comment on comfort. Look on the V-Twin Mania website for ideas V-Twin Mania - Genuine Harley Davidson parts and accessories, Kuryakyn, Vance & Hines, Custom Chrome, Zodiac and many more... |

If It's quality & comfort your'e after you won't go far wrong with the Mustang, aint the cheapest out there but they are the best IMHO. I would suggest you look stateside for a good deal or Ebay, again just MHO. SHOEI |

One less expensive option would be to have your stock seat modified by a local seat shop. I did that and was very satisfied. They would modify and I would ride, they'd modified and I'd ride. I laid a piece of black fabric over the seat until it was right, then covered it in leather. Nothing like leather---cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Be sure to put a piece of tough polyfilm between the leather and the padding to keep the water out. It took several weeks to get right, but it's the best way IMO. I'm doing another seat the same way. Getting to the point where I can cut and glue foam myself.

Evo160K has by far the most cost-effective idea. Take it to your local upholsterer/specialist. OR... the customer service and product quality of Mustang seats is kinda famous. You never hear the same raves about other manufacturers |

I chopped the seat base of a fatboy down and took the base into an autoupolstery[?] place, The resulting seat looked almost identical in shape size to the seat in the post above, they charged me £20 to make the cover and do the foam, that was in 1991 though..

Harleyboy, since Shoei and Kiwidave mentioned Mustang seats, I wanted to point out the one I have for sale is a new Mustang Solo seat that will fit your bike. You can have it for $65 plus freight. There are pictures on the link above.
