Voes

Anybody know where I can get a VOES switch for a 98? Dyna. The brother in law thinks that that's what's caused his problems coz the thing cut out on him last summer and he's near enough stripped the whole thing down trying to find out why it won't start.

Re: Voes

i hate to be obvious but.....the dealership? i wouldnt look anywhere else for one of those.

The vacuum setting *IS* adjustable on those once you plunge into them. Never seen the inside of one myself, but maybe for some reason the factory setting came adrift??

ALSO: check very carefully the hose that links the VOES to the carb nipple. Any air leak there and the bike can be hard to start, will never idle and runs poorly at low speed/rev. How do I know? the hose fell off the carb once years ago....it took me ages to spot that!

Re: Voes

I hate to be obvious too, but have you tried ANY of the independants listing in the suppliers section?

I know of at least one who has stock of the VOES.

Sometimes we all OVERLOOK the obvious. Some unauthorised dealers stock such things.

Re: Voes

Before you spend money on a new one perhaps it would make sense to test the old one. You might save $50-$60. You can test it by hooking a continuity tester between the two leads and draw a vacuum with a Mightymac or such on the hose (or at the voes body itself), should take 5-7 in. hg, depending on bike model. If it's working the continuity will open (perhaps close, can't remember). If it doesn't do one or the other, either the rubber hose is leaking or the voes is probably bad. By the way, as kiwidave said, they are adjustible. I've done 3-4, they're very easy to do.

Question Re: Voes

My left brain and my right brain are in conflict. I think that's what I mean.

Re: Voes

My apologies Phil. Having never had to replace/touch the actual switch in 15yrs, i never realised that these were a ''disposable'' and that as such demand would see them stocked outside dealerships.
