Should I Cut the black Cable???

Dearest Chaps and Chapesses,

Does anyone have any experience of retrofitting the combined Speedo/Tacho instead of the speedo to a pre-98 FLH or FLHR???

If so...did you get as confused as me...

On the wiring diagram for the old speedo, it shows wire GN/R "To Pursuit indicator" as not connected to the replacement speedo (doesn't even show what happens to the flipping wire after you have cut it)

Now then, before I get out my side cutters, who knows what this is for and can I leave it un-terminated??

Neil

Re: Should I Cut the black Cable???

Having seen literally thousands of films on this subject, I know, and can state in a definitive manner, that you ALWAYS cut the black cable.....

....until, as your cutters approach it and the music/ticking gets louder, you switch to cut the RED cable instead.

There ya go. Hope that helped.

A classic answer from Baff which illustrates perfectly the biker sense of humour. This deserves to become sticky.

I just cut the black cable, blew up the bike, the wife filled her trousers and the pit bull mauled my left buttock...

Thanks Baff...all your fault!!

....on the other hand...

I might have looked closer at the loom and it appears that the "Pursuit cable" doesn't have an opposite number on the connector for the main loom !!! DOH!
