Re: replacement engine

Depends what you want Mike. If memory serves a bit back Black Bear (I think) had some genuine EVO engines up for sale at quite a good price, might be worth a phone call.

Re: replacement engine

Michael,

If you want us to help, we need to know more! Why do you want a new motor and what are you going to use it for? What have you currently got in the way of bike and other parts? Cheapest may not be best for your pocket and no new Harley or clone engine is cheap. Black Bear were selling a new Evo on Ebay for roughly £2,500. Phone them as a starting point.

I have just bought a new S&S engine from Matts Machine Shop, who will be fitting it any day. I decided against 'cheapest' because the only non-Harley engine maker I could find that provides UK-based post-sales support is S&S. I had already modified my engine beyond standard Harley spec and wanted more! I will get a 3 year warranty.

If you are tempted to import from the USA bear in mind that UK taxes and other charges will add roughly 25% to the US price. The shipper may not deliver your new purchase until after you cough up.

Re: replacement engine

Bloody hell Phil , that some motor the old road king will be transformed into a rocket and new brakes and suspension will be needed.
Wonder how the S&S motor from Matts compares in terms of price, the Ultima seems good value with carb and ignition.
Take it the old one is beyond repair Mike or do you just wanna go fast?

I was sorely tempted by an Ultima, but S&S is 50 years old and has lots of experience, while Ultima are new kids on the block. S&S provides a 3 year warranty on mine and it comes with carb, ignition system, temp and knock sensors, automatic (not manual) decompressors, etc.

I will shortly have an 89 inch stroked Evo for sale, in need of a good home....
