Primary chaincase oil

Don't want to start an oil debate here, just want to know what grade oil is advised for an Evo 1340 chaincase.

Cheers Chill

Re: Primary chaincase oil

No debate needed. Type F or G (not Dextron) automatic transmission fluid, from any car parts store. Cheap and soooo easy to find.

And it works GREAT.

ATF

Chilly I think Kiwidave says Automatic Transmission Fluid for his Evo.

That's what I use in my TC.

I'll keep searching for you mate.

Re: Primary chaincase oil

Thanks Baza
Have been wondering about a section for "grades of oils" that would be grades only, nothing else.

ie- Evo engine = 20/50 G/Box xxxxxx Primary xxxxxx

Would just give people the option of another make of oil instead of being brow beaten into believing HD oil is the only oil for your bike.

Iv'e tried to obtain this knowledge and found it very difficult to get the grades, loads of other info, but no grades.

Have a feeling it would end up in tears tho, with people not keeping to the objective

No Chance of a section for oils. Before you know it we would have cooking oils followed by "my favourite recipies" all added in full seriousness.

Re: Primary chaincase oil

Yea i know a shame that some info as simple as oil grades becomes so embroiled in a debate about "my oils better than yours"

No wonder HD have no problem in selling their oils in large quantities, their marketing has got people thinking other oils are the work of the devil

Lets just have the grades.

Then people can make up their own minds what Manufacturer to use, simple innit

No fuc*ing chance

Re: Primary chaincase oil

Went to the stealers last week for some primary oil for me Evo cos i`m one of those sad gits that will only use HD oil. I was given a new bottle that says it`s for primary and transmission. Well, in the past, the tranny oil has always been semi-synth. Why have they changed it? I`m not too keen on putting this stuff in the tranny but, i guess it`s o.k. for the chaincase.
Wish i could source Redline Shockproof for the tranny but, it seems almost imposible to get here?

Blimey when was the last time you changed it ? They been selling Formula + for ages now...by the way I use Harley oil most of the time too...Formula + is OK more convenient as well 2 bottles does the lot.

I await the flak about using 'expensive' Harley oil....
