That is what I have found too. I have 13 inch Harrisons and Billet-6s on my dresser and have locked the rear a few times! Mind that does have a seriously large disc and a big, if simple, caliper. Don't see any need to change that end, although I have fitted a Goodrich braided hose.

Re: Improved Brake Calipers

Found these ready to go six pot calipers on eBay:

They are a direct retrofit. He ships to the UK for $49 and they list on eBay for $199, so at current exchange rates they come in about. £150ish, ready to fit and they look nice.

For pads which they appear to come with, ahem, I quote: 'we do have replacement brake pads for them or you can also use any brake pads made for the Pro One brand calipers as these use the same pads'.

They fit the standard 11.5" disk as well. I'm tempted as it's such and easy upgrade.

For future reference when the link above breaks, the ebay seller is:
bk-rider and his shop is at: eBay Store - CrossingRider: Bike Kits Frames, Lighting Electrical, Forks Suspension

Hope this is useful.

Jamie.

Re: Improved Brake Calipers

If you are going to make or get adaptors made then think about some better calipers such as the jap/italian 4-6 pot type from a breakers, this also means you are using readily available & usualy cheaper pads.
just remember the master cyclinder size needs to suit the calipers.

Re: Improved Brake Calipers

you can use 99 up calipers if you change the fork sliders for the equivalent 99 up type - readily available on ebay for less than the cost of adaptor plates quoted on here.

You will need spacers made for the wheel spindle but they will be alot cheaper than adaptor plates.

This gives a factory look to the conversion rather than a Heath Robinson look in my opinion.

Re: Improved Brake Calipers

We have had a few customers put all chrome Brembo brakes on their new Baggers. No Comment on that......

However. A few of the guys at work have put the take offs on their Dynas. Most all Club Members here have FXDX`s, or other Dynas made up to twin disc.

What a great upgrade! If you see some take offs on flea bay at a decent price, give them a go.

To get the best use out of them though, you have to use the Brembo bagger discs, which are slightly thicker.

Gives the smaller Bikes monster brakes though.

If you see this at the local pub or show, ask him what he did with the take offs.

Plus if you want to pay some shipping, here is an example..

Harley Brembo 2 disc calipers,no pads:eBay Motors (item 160374496667 end time Nov-08-09 08:25:23 PST)

Don't want to nit pick but should that be Y2000 up?
My 99 FLHR has Evo type brakes.
