engine vibes

I was out on my FXR today and noticed some bad vibes on the overrun. Under acceleration it is as smooth as you would expect being an FXR. On the overrun is another matter, felt like someone was taking a hammer to somewhere around the back, checked swing are, tigheness of rear spindle, shock mountings all were ok.

I remembered this happened before and the front engine bolts came loose, i checked these at the side of the road and they were tight, well as tight as my fingers could hold being as it was a hot engine. I limped home being careful with the throttle and let the bike cool down.

Checked fron mountings and both were loos, one had actually broke the bolt. I tighened the loose one and replaced the broken one.

Has anyone else ever come across this. The bolts were high tensile but not Harley originals.

Re: engine vibes

I think with critical stuff like that it is *ALWAYS* best to get the absolutely right bolt.
