I have 15lbs of air in the front suspension and 10lbs in the rear as advised. 36lbs in the front and rear tyres. Cant feel any play in the head bearings and the wheel bearings are fine. The tyres have done about 2k miles. It seems to be getting worse. As soon as you get a leg on round a fast sweeper the front gets a pretty scary wobble on. Any ideas?
Tyres have already been covered by others and that was my first thought just reading your post. However 10lbs in the rear? I have no idea of the front because my 03 is not air adjustable but my choice of rear is certainly not as low as 10 psi.

Limey have you the correct psi for Trevs bike? I would try it a bit firmer say add a few pounds in each. Of course you should only do it with the pump made specifically for the shocks.

Ian y, you need to take note of the wisdom here about Avons. Every time they get mentioned on HDH we go through this palavar.

Reading that again I use the other way round, in other words 10psi front, 15psi rear, solo.

To nobody in particular, why the f#ck do we have to keep telling people when they change tyre brand to check their chosen brand's website for recommended tyre pressures?!

Agreed, but you would think a Harley Indie would be able to offer the correct advice about tyre pressures on tyres they have fitted! So in my case, I took his advice, haven't noticed any odd handling, but only rode 16 miles since fitting. So my quandary, is do I stick with what he told me, or do I go with Avon website. His logic was, tyres heat up when running so you don't want too much pressure, as the side walls are quite hard

Because even some of the tyre suppliers and fitters seem to know fuck all about pressures....and that's bloody dangerous!

Also some members do not use the site very often and have not read all the previous threads on Avon increased pressures....plus so many don't search the subject first to see if it's been covered.

In Trevor's defense he has a handling problem it was us that mentioned tyres.

Just look how many battery questions we get at the start of some peoples riding season.

Plus he is a club member so he can do what he likes.

casbar DO what Avon says.

Re: Foul handling RK

Very rough guideline for replacing Dunlop with Avons is add 10% over standard pressures.

Re: Foul handling RK

I always recommend Avons, especially on glides. But then again I only do that because I haven't tried any other tyres and have been more than happy with them.

If I had experience of Metzlers and they proved better than Avons I'd recommend them.

As for who to believe about tyre pressures? Well, Indies know best! (I get all my tyre info from Avons website)

Must be wonderful to be so condescendingly self-rightous....

Ian don't let GRB get to you mate I answered him Can't have a guest pissing off a club member can we?

Avons are softer on the sidewalls hence the recommendation of higher air pressures.... Maybe your pressures were too low even before you road fully laden and in the heat. You carry on mate.

GRB lighten up please and show a bit more respect to others.
