Tyres

A week ago I changed from Dunlops to Avon Venoms - I have never experienced such a difference in years of riding different bikes with all kinds of tyres. It truly feels like a different bike - I guess those Dunlops must be truly crap - whyever are they standard equipment ?

Re: Tyres

£160 for the pair including fitting (with a seized spindle as well) - which I thought was pretty good - from Essential Rubber in Dalston (Hackney).

Good guys and I would definitely reccommend them although they are all jap sportsbike nutters so if you ride a Harley be prepared to have the piss taken out of you remoreselessly whilst you wait.

Re: Tyres

From what the guys at Region 25 tell me Venoms are most certainly the way to go. No more falling off the white lines you can ride straight along them.

Problem is I still got tread on the original crap , so got to wait a bit longer.

Re: Tyres

Is Essential Rubber that yellow double-fronted shop about two blocks west of Kingsland High Road?

I used that shop in my last couple of years in London and the guys were damn good. Nice prices too. And not much H-D abuse!

Very few people have a good word for the OEM Dunlops

Re: Tyres

Yep I have used Essential Rubber several times, they are in Downham Road, just off Kingsland Road by the Fire station.

If you want to be pedantic and are scared of going to East London their address is actually N1 (North One) which makes them Islington (must be Tony Blair's neighbours then!) if that makes you feel any safer!

If you want tyres for your H-D it's best to check if they have them in stock before going as they may well have to be ordered in, which normally would be next day.

I normally just drop my wheels off and collect later.

The funny bit is when they get talking about the women who ring up wanting to know what they sell when they see Essential Rubber on their husbands credit card bill, it happens a lot!

Here's the full address

Essential Rubber

27-29, Downham Rd, London, N1 5AA
