Re: Battery

I thought that a letter after the number indicated a later model year.

Part number 65989-97 BATTERY, 20AH should still be available, quoted as being £79.16 from http://www.guernseyharleydavidson.com/

Re: Battery

The `A`suffix denotes an upgrade. The 65989-97A has the exact same dimensions as the original. The 65989-97 is no longer available & has not been for many years now. If someone still has one, I would stay well clear of it.
I would imagine there is some other problem if the battery box no longer fits.

Re: Battery

It's the design of the new battery. It has a mottled finish to it similar to the paint on the engines. It also has the harley logo and a detail strip around the battery. The detail strip is why the battery cover does not fit.

Re: Battery

page 703 http://www.harleyworldchesterfield.c...5_security.pdf

Batteries P/Ns 65989-97A, 65989-90B or 65991-82B. may not allow use of accessory battery side covers on. XL and Dyna models.

If this appies to yours its nice to know they are aware of the problem, they don't if a fix though

Make sure its a big hammer.......
