| 1200 conversion
hi all, im coming into some cash this week so im planning on getting the conversion done. i know all the good points it will bring, and i have decided to go for a rebore with wiseco pistons rather than a 1200 set. any reccomendations in the banbury/south midlands area? i know of northants v twin (£675), and cycle enterprises(£650). any other decent indies that do reliable and quick work? thanks dan |

I did this conversion about 18 months ago. I got my kit from the US, it came with barrels, pistons and gaskets. Some others on here have also done this conversion. Can't say who is better as i done it myself, but it feels damm good afterwards ![]()

I took my barrels to Cycle Enterprises to be bored out. Couple of friends have had the whole job done there but I stripped and built the motor myself. Geof does a real good job but it depends how many bikes he has in. You sometimes have to chase him. Alan B |

They were 2orangeharleys on ebay but i just looked there and they dont have any. Might be worth emailing them though. Have found these on ebay http://motors.search.ebay.com/search...rclo=&saprchi= they work out to £257.00. There is the postage to go on that as well. What i have found in the past is if you get stuff shipped in at holiday times they seem to get through without the TAX man getting his bit in. Don't know if it's because there are lots of parcels coming in or what. Not gaurenteed though. lol.

Like Hawkeye(who I might add helped me a lot) I got my kit from there also. SE barrels and Keith Black pistons. Much more power. If you do order it don't use the second gasket between the head and the rockers it's paper and was replaced with and alloy type ones, as the paper ones can cause leaks. I bought these(2) from Harley for about £6. One other thing the circlips on the gugion pin are the spring type and you use a very sharp scribe to push them in. And last make sure you fit the pistons the right way round. I only say this as the diag could be better, but if you sit on the bike and look down you will be ok. Well pleased with mine. |
