Attaching a luggage rack-bobtail fender.

2004 Sporty with bobtail fender and single seat .I need to drill two holes into the plastic bit at the back ,just below the taillight.
.

As you can probably see ,there is not much room to manouver .Even taking the tail light off doesnt help. Cannot get a drill bit in there . How do I make two pilot holes so that I can then drill from the underside

The poxy bit that fits into the hole in the fender is a pain as well . Unlike the OE thing that you screw the seat onto ,there is no clip to hold it in place, so you need to get your hand up between tyre and fender and hold it in place with one hand whilst putting the rack in place ,along with washers and then bolting it together with the other !!!!

you could purchase a flexi type chuck for your drill, Dremell do small hobbyist drills which come in very handy for working on bikes especially for polishing, or heat up a small steel rod (old drill bit ) holding in a pair of pliers and melt
the holes in the plastic.
very carefully! looks like you could do this from underneath, looks like your gonna have to take the light out just in case

Re: Attaching a luggage rack-bobtail fender.

Its a Mustang Vintage Solo . Not cheap when all is said and done .

Seat cost $199 + $70 UPS shipping ($50 by USPS) + Ł48 in charges making a grand total of approx Ł204 .Its very comfy though ,although I havent gone for a particularly long ride on it. And it looks good..the one thing I dont like is the braided bit round the edge!! (WTF does everything have to have braiding or conchos or studs etc)

I will try that before buying a dremel type tool .
