Re: DIY Stage 1

you could but i think it would then run rich. if you have the filter you could put that on as well and it should be ok.

Re: DIY Stage 1

would you recommend slipons or a full system, do they run better if you lose the balance pipe?

Re: DIY Stage 1

i had slip ons on my sporty but i am going to get a full system for my softail. i dont really know if it has any benefit or not over looks. i dont know if the stock down tubes have any kind of baffling in them. i just like the look and sound of short pipes.

Re: DIY Stage 1

people talk about drilling holes in standard exhausts, if so where? and what are the results? is it just noise or will it effect performance? cheers.

Re: DIY Stage 1

i spiked my spare SE mufflers because all thats in there is a small plate sticking up at an angle. i just flattened it down. i think you can drill straight through the stock mufflers on older ones, but im not sure if the new one have cats in them.
the spike didnt really do much except make it a bit louder and more raspy, gave a little more at the top end but took away a little at the bottom end. im glad i had spares to put back on because it wasnt worth doing, it basically put drag pipes on.
im sure someone else who has done it to stock mufflers will tell you more though.
