Just a question, why? Sportsters run quite cool, you can do more harm than good running the oil below temp.
Here where I live it gets very hot (100 +) we very rarely fit XL oil coolers.

Re: Oil Cooler (01 model)

I've fitted the Zodiac one cos on a rally rideout the oil did get too hot. Whatever you fit I would definitely recommend spending the extra and fitting the thermastate as well otherwise you're never going to get to tempeture in the first place. My oil tank now stays in the lower half of the tempeture range and the engine runs a lot sweeter. There is a thread along these lines in this section. Try using the search and you might get all the info you need.

Re: Oil Cooler (01 model)

Try running a temp gauge, the oil has to get up to 220 or so before it burns the contaminants out.
Thin sheet metal between hot oil & leg will burn.

Re: Oil Cooler (01 model)

As Swampig noted of late getting very hot. Also at some point I'm gradually going to improve the engine performance upto a possible stage 3, therefore assuming it may get hotter. Trying to think ahead of the game as a local dealer to me is closing and you never know I may get something cheap from them for a change.

Regards
