Re: Fuel gauge

You should be getting more than that; only 115? I would check that out, mind you I have the 13.5 litre tank, have you the peanut tank?

Post Re: Fuel gauge

Yes, it's the current (I assume) peanut tank. What's a 13.5 litre tank? Isn't the peanut tank 12.5 l and the custom 17 l?

Are you sure about that? Capacity to reserve is what, about 2.1 g? Haven't got my service manual here, so I'm trying to wing it. So that'd be about 54 - 55 mpg. That's about what I get.

Yes the peanut tank, and the manual says it's a 3.3 gallon tank, but how much is the reserve?

Post Re: Fuel gauge

That's 3.3 US gallons, which is 2.75 proper gallons, or 12.5 litres.

Reserve is 3 litres (included within the total of 12.5 l), which works out as 0.66 gallons (0.8 US).

So capacity to reserve is 9.5 l, or 2.09 gallons (2.5 US).

Re: Fuel gauge

Just to throw my twopenneth in...
My 2000 883Custom (stage 1) did 12 to 13 miles per litre over 11000miles approx. incl one trip of 3000 miles whilst loaded.
My 05 883 Custom did 90mpg while running in but has now settled down to the usual 12 to 13 miles per litre after being stage one'd.Latest fillup was 11.15litres and covered 143 miles, roughly 58.26 mpg and I don't nurse it.
With the 17ltr tank this gives me a range of around 200 miles with which I am more than happy.
