| Fuel gauge
Can anyone point me in the direction of a fuel gauge for an 04 Sportster? A friend of mine said he remembered seeing one that basically replaced the fuel cap and had a mini-float attached to it and ran off of small batteries. So far the lack of a fuel gauge is the only thing I don't like about my new 883. |

The speedo trip is your fuel gauge...Just zero when full and fill when 80-90 miles. Then adjust up or down depending as you ride it. Can't rely on a fuel gauge.

Makes all the difference on a slope...OK so does a car BUT with a bigger tank. Get used to puting the gauge to 0000 when you fill up. |

Shame on me . . .So far I've not run out of gas, as I ride with friend who has a gauge on his Nightrain. Though he has a bigger tank, we get about same number of miles out of a tank. It was worth asking . . . |

I ride an 04-883 Sporty, great bike....Fill her up, reset the odo and expect around 130 ish perhaps 140 mile before going on to reserve, or do what they done in days of old unscrew the cap and give the bike a shake to see what you have left. real motorcycling.

With cigarette to illuminate the inside of the tank!! ;) You're brave, waiting to go on reserve, I top up at 80 - 100 miles, might be a small Harley, but I ain't pushing it!!

Its true that a fuel gauge would only be a dodad indicator and probabley wouldnt be worth the effort, after all you said it would need a leccy supply? how would that work then? trailed across your tank? or drill a hole from below? (dont) if you were thinking of upgrading you tank then yes you could consider a purpose built hole for a gauge, but is it worth it? run to reserve and find a garage thats what most folk do |

Odo is the best....but I ran out the other day you get no indication that it is going to happen...bike just say's "nope not going anywhere any more" not like a Jap where you get some sort of engine polava before the stop |
