| Run in?
Hi guys, I'm buying a 883 sporty it's done just about 1000 miles since its 1200 coversion, is 1000 miles enough for a run in? Only I want to take it to Ritie and I would like it sorted before I go.

I ran mine 1200 conversion in for about 1000 miles and it was fine. I changed the oil and filter after running in to be on the safe side. What does it feel like? Does it feel free enough ? Instinct is some times better than strict numbers. Alan B |

| Re: Run in?
1000 miles running in? What exactly do you mean by running in? How should I run in my new 1200C? I have just done 150 miles and I was v.v.v.careful for the first 50 and planned to keep it below 90 MPH for the next 500 and not be silly in any one gear. What wold you guys reccomend? |

| Re: Run in?
When I got my 1200 I just rode it more or less normally . Just made sure I didnt sit at the same speed for ages ,and didnt rev it too much in any one gear . Stayed away from motorways on the whole , if I did use them, same as above, and when it was clear I would slow right down ,going up and down the gears.

Harleyjase We are talking about running in a 883 / 1200 conversion. The original engine has already been run in so there is only the pistons and barrels to run in. Your brand new bike needs running in as per the handbook. Alan B |

also use real cheap oil to help bed it in and junk the oil after the first 50 miles also use a the coarsest stone possible to hone the cylinders, fine hones tend to glaze and you end up with blowby |
