| Water in primary/tranny oil
hi guys
My daily ride is now a '91 XL883 which i picked up last September with only 1,900 miles on it (from some old boy that had bought it as a "toy" and then not played with it much!).
When I got it home, I changed the oils as a precaution. The engine oil was fine (he'd changed it several times, prolly cos it's easy!), but the tranny/primary oil was pretty emulsified; ho hum, i thought, it has been in there 15 years!
BUT: having put another 5,000 miles on it since I bought it, I changed the oils again last weekend and guess what - the tranny/primary oil is a cream colour just like before, and the change had got a bit more "notchy" recently and has now smoothed out again with the new oil. This tells me water is getting in there, but I'm damned if i can think of how - any ideas, anybody?
Thanks in anticipation
MONTY
