Manuals

In case any one is looking for a manual for this model I have found that The Book Depository do the Clymer for under £20!

The Book Depository

I will be ordering one so will let you know if I hit any snags.

Also what would anyone reccomend as the 'Performance Bible' for the Sporty?
Have seen a couple for the larger models but not for later little un's
Cheers

Re: Manuals

I've got this and the dreaded Haynes. The Clymer is definitely a bit better.

But after last weekend was frustratingly spent in the garage I bit the bullet and ordered the factory manual from Guernsey HD (no VAT or P&P). Haven't got it yet but at approx £50 it looked well worth it.

Re: Manuals

Chris has hit the nail on the head. They are cheap for a reason. The genuine manual isn't expensive, well I don't think so, and a far superior manual well worth the extra £s.

There's no VAT on manuals anyway. I got mine from Cycle Manuals Inc, and even with the P&P it worked out at about £31. This was about a year ago; with today's exchange rate it'd be about £36. I've got the Parts Manual too.

Re: Manuals

Have original manual (for pre rubbermount) on cd in pdf format.
Not Mint, coz it looks like it's been scanned by the original publisher, but it certainly does the job for me.
Ideal really coz you can print the pages you want to work from, get them as oily as you like, then throw them away at the finish.
Got it off ebay sometime ago, but if you are struggling for one let me know by p.m. and i'll see if i can sort you a copy.

Re: Manuals

My preference for the 'after market' manuals was because I had found that some 'manufacturers own' manuals give you a long list of special tools whereas Haynes and the like give you ways to get by without the full sponsored tool kit. I would be grateful if anyone could comment as to whether HD manuals are sufficiently descriptive for the home mechanic and not just HD experts though as for the prices quoted I would rather go factory.

Re: Manuals

The few tools I've needed I've managed to make from the description and picture in the manual. Don't forget the club tool list for members only of course.
