Help Please

I have an 05 883L - I have had forwards put on, but would like to extend them further (I am quite long in the leg) Have checked out extension kits and Kuryakyn do 1 - but it wont fit my sportie (the fixing holes on the frame are too far apart) Does anyone have any other ideas where I can get an extension kit? Failing that I will have to have something made up.

Cheers
Bexx

Re: Help Please

I'm pretty sure I've seen extended forward control kits for '04+s on eBay at Rob's Cycle Supply. I've just looked, and he doesn't have any listed at the moment. May be worth shooting him an email?

Or another thought: would a seat that moved you back a bit help?

Hi

I checked through CCI, Zodiac, and Kuryakyn but none of them list extended controls for your model.

Re: Help Please

Sadly you will be mighty lucky to find those second-hand....

So bite the bullet. If they fit you good....buy them new, then just take them to a friendly welding/machine shop and get current holes filled and new ones punched to a cardboard template you supply. It will stuff the chrome ... but just use silver hammerite or similar and get over it until next winter, and get them rechromed. It's a small price to pay for that comfort....

I just did something very similar with a rod-linkage clutch release arm ..... as none were made for my bike.

*EVERYTHING* is do-able if you need it doing.

Late thought: it may be cheaper to get something fabricated in non-chrome. You just need to get some square metal stock cut and tapped..... take along a pic out of the Kuryakyn catalogue

Re: Help Please

Folkie had a good plan. A seat can be cheaper. Is there an upholsterer near you who could re-do your present seat and move you back a little?

Re: Help Please

Thanks for all your help - having discussed further, John is going to see if he can fabricate something, and I will look into changing the seat. I want to change the seat anyway as the standard solo seat is so damned uncomfortable after about 15 miles
Thanks Again

How about more padding in your seat area?

Ok, taxi.

Re: Help Please

Hi Bexx

I just bought a kit of bits for my 2000 883C to move the controls in front of the frame. I don't know if there is a similar kit of bits for your ride.

Bought from guy in PA, USA - email: marcustom@coaxpa.com

Total cost including post, VAT and Parcelforce rip-off fee: £160.00

What a difference. At 6'6" I am so much more comfortable now.

Good luck.

Re: Help Please

ooo - that looks like just what I need - does it interfere with the front wheel at all?

Cheers
