…I picked up my Nightster (orange tank) almost a year to the day, and have 100% no regrets!

I stuck with the center controls for a couple of months before swapping to forwards, being slightly longer in the leg this really improved the ride for me – certainly more laid back. Oh, I’m 5’11 and a tad over 13 ‘erm’ stone…

Have a chat with your local HD dealership, I’m sure they will be happy for your to take one out for a spin.

I also swapped out the standard mufflers for something within with a bit more of a rumble about 200 miles ago, lovely tune now

Do it… yeah know it makes sense!!!

Thanks man. Took a Nightster out today and was really impressed. Are forward controls an option from new? Expensive?

You can ask the dealer to have them fitted but it will be at your own cost. They cost £300.92 at Chester HD with 15% discount (on-line only) plus fitting.

Re: Nightster

I always thought that forward controls cause road shocks to be transmitted straight up your spine rather than being absorbed by the spring in your legs. Combined with having to hang on to high bars in the wind as well doesn't sound much fun either. Having lowered suspension would be the last straw for me!
Whenever I've tried raised bars over the years on all sorts of bike, I've soon dropped them again. (I was over 6ft once but now shortening with age - glad I didn't compress the spine more than necessary now)

Isn't this riding position just all about promoting some kind of image rather than practicality? -ever seen anything other than a H-D with forward controls? Better and safer to be comfortable.

Re: Nightster

Hi Tyler - no problem, glad the ride went well :-) As standard the Nightster comes with mid controls, I remember toying the idea of the dealership fitting before I picking the bike up but at the last minute thought it wise to try the mids for a couple of hundred miles just to be sure!

If you really want the forwards from day one I'm sure ( they offer it to me ) they can them at FOC if I purchased from them. That said, you can pick up at a later date for around 300 quid and fit them yourself - 30min jobby

Regarding the forwards transferring more vibration up via your spine, this is certainly not the case for me anyway,I am (having broken my neck in the past) rather sensitive to vibrations !

Sooo... have you place opened the wallet yet!?!!

If you think about it, it makes no difference as your weight is 90% on your arse, so the road shock just goes straight to your arse bone and on up yer spine.

Re: Nightster

Got mine back in June! I enjoy it more than my Low Rider or Fat Boy! Kept the standard pipes on until last week, now it has nice V&H shorts with quiet baffles...........quieter than the Fat Boy I had but with a nice rumble................

I enjoy how nimble it is! I've had a twin seat put on but that's gotta go for a soft Mustang, on a long ride you're fine until you have to stop at a roundabout or something, then waves of pain lash through you!!

The Tank range is dire so is the horn!

So, fit air horn, new Hagon shocks, larger tank & new seat. Financing that might take a while but well worth it! Love the bike!!
