| Re: V H Straight Shots I had V&H slip ons on my sportster 1200 low. Easy to fit, looked fantastic, and with a modified carb great performance. Taken the whole thing back to standard for this year though. Why ? Too Bloody loud mate ! Lots of air intake hiss through the SE air filter and lots of attention in town evey time I went for a trundle. Some popping and farting occasionaly as well (the bike , not me ). For me it wasnt worth the expense for an approx 10-15% performance increase. Sold the slip ons. Anyone want a near new SE air filter conversion(boxed) for half new price (Ill even throw in a selection of jets and a lighter weight carb slide spring ! Roll on summer ! |

| Re: V H Straight Shots My XL1200R passed its MOT today with Straightshots on; had an advisory "noisy exhaust", tester said that was just to cover his ass! ![]() I like them Llew, good quality and easy to fit. Only hassle I had was limited clearance between the rear pipe and the lower shock bolt. Paid £400 for mine from here; CRUISER ECOSSE UK : Vance & Hines Exhausts, Fuelpaks, & Mufflers. Good service, nice bloke to deal with.

| Re: V H Straight Shots Got mine V&H Straight Shots from Performance Customs - Northern Michigans new bike shop About half the UK price plus a bit on import duty. Brought through their ebay sales. On receipt I noted that I had 1 bracket instead of a front and rear bracket, but an email to Patty sorted it all out. Fitting was easy (eventually) one of the front nuts on the engine would not come off no matter what, my son came to the rescue he's BOC trained and while I sweated and closed my eyes he heated it up with a welding gun. Had a problem sliding the rear pipe on, but with a few taps on a dolly (tapered metal thingy) to open up the bell end, no probs. Then just one small problem with the forward controls, need to change it a bit later but it will hold until after the Cornish Cream. And the result? Fantastic the sound put a smile back on my face, akin to when I first got my bike. Performance? Whats that? ![]() I used to have straight through turn-outs, they were painful and the reverb from walls, tunnels and bridges was a shock wave. I have a db meter and measured the standards I've been on for the last few months, then the V&H. At low revs the V&H measured louder but surprisingly at high revs the standard pipes were louder than the V&H, go figure, most I got out of either was 115dB at high revs, measured whilst sitting on the bike.
